As another day dawns, I am amazed by the beauty of the changing seasons once again.
God’s presence is almost tangible in the crispness of the cool breeze that heralds the coming
of fall. While I enjoy the warm sun in the summertime, I also appreciate the beauty of snow
falling; buds as they appear in springtime, and seeing the trees bare in the fall. The sun and
the moon constantly work to bring about the dawning of day and the solace of night. The sea-
sons remind us to find beauty in each of our days. To seek out God’s loving presence in all
that we see and do. To not complain about the heat or the cold, but to simply appreciate the
blessings that we have in our lives. It is also an opportunity to do God’s work in the world as
Children of God who are blessed with another day.
As I experienced the seasons while attending Vanderbilt University, I decided to turn
the cold of winter into what accidently became a small outreach ministry. I would pass
strangers on the street who were seeking help from passing cars. I put several backpacks full
of seasonal items (i.e. – water bottles, sunscreen, t-shirts in the summer and body warmers,
sweatshirts, and blankets in the winter) and I would hand them out to those in need down-
town. This small act inspired others to donate to the backpacks and/or to make their own. My
prayer for you today is that you find beauty in your day. May you take whatever circumstance
is causing you the most trial to pray over it – and maybe God will find a way to transform your
situation into a mission for God and for good.
Pastor Amber
Prayer of St. Therese
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance,
praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
