“Before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.”
— Isaiah 65:24
How many times have you felt that your prayers went unheard or unanswered? I know that I have felt that frustration, fear, and anxiety often.
How many times have you looked back at those situations and praised God for God’s infinite wisdom in guiding your life in just the perfect way?
“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:11
In this passage, Apostle Paul is speaking about growing in love, faith, and wisdom.
Once, I had a parishioner share with me a funny story. She said, “Amber, I stopped praying for patience. God kept using so many things to teach it to me, and I let him know that I was tired of the lessons! I just wanted the patience!”
So often, we ask God for things that are not meant for us. We are not meant to see the greater picture. And for that gift, I often am so thankful! It is hard enough to do my work down here on earth, much less even contemplate having control of the universe.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
— Romans 8:28
Let us rest in the assurance of God’s wisdom as we work together for the good of the world by using our hearts, minds, spirits, and gifts to build each other up, support one another, and to glory in the blessings that God has placed in our lives.
May your unanswered prayers be a means to spiritual growth and trust in God. When we look for the beauty rather than the struggle, that perspective can change an unanswered prayer into a God sent blessing.
May it be so,
Pastor Amber
