On Sunday, December 21, I am leading a Blue Christmas Service in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. This service is meant to be a comforting place to not feel lonely during the Christmas season.
December 21 is the longest night of the year. To honor the human emotions of grief, loss, sadness, loneliness, or any feeling that causes your heart to ache, I hold this service to remind us that we are not alone. God’s presence brings a promise of hope and light into the darkness of pain.
We will have music played by the incredible Debby Evenson, prayer, meditation, and a laying down of our burdens while surrounded by candlelight, others who are walking in the shadows of joy, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
This service is open to any who would like to attend. Feel free to invite family, friends, or those whom you know need assurance and encouragement during this holiday season.
I pray that this time before Christmas fills your hearts with anticipation, joy, love, and wonder, but for those of you who have a hard time experiencing those emotions, we welcome you to come be with us for Blue Christmas. There we will seek God’s healing power to touch our hearts and bring us hope.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
Pastor Amber
